Selecting An Email List From Your Customer File

 

Working with your client account manager, you can select the target audience of your broadcast email effort by expire date, billing effort, package code, sourcekey, email permission, or any other demographic information you have collected and stored in your extended mainfile. Some typical mainfile fields for selection might include:

Expiration Date
Email address
Email permission
Email deliverability
Account status

A typical selection criteria statement might be:

Select all customers whose expire date is October, 1999, who have email addresses on file, and have given permission to receive promotions, and have not had any email returned from this address, and who have paid their current subscription. Include the customer's full name, address information, and the customer's unique identification number in the output file.

A selection output file is produced that meets your criteria, and contains the data you requested for merging with your email message for each customer record. The file is then electronically transferred to the destination of your choice. Your Broadcast Email message will use the customer information in the selection output file to create a personalized email for each of the customers on your list.

A typical Broadcast Email message might look something like this:

Dear Jane Skof,

We see that you are fast approaching your last chance to renew your subscription to Demonstration Illustrated and guarantee that you won't miss an issue.

For your convenience, we have prepared a renewal form for you at www.your_domain_name.com/Renew_Now.html.
