Netcentives
Kable now provides support for third party providers of online premiums. The first provider to use the new feature is Netcentives, based in San Francisco, CA (www.netcentives.com). A publisher can now code a page so that a subscriber is awarded "ClickReward" points that can be cashed in for frequent flyer miles or other merchandise. The process is designed so that a subscriber can't alter a page to get additional rewards. Upon acceptance of the completed transaction, we make an entry into a secured database that is queried every hour to see if transactions have been received. When they are detected, they are encrypted and sent to Netcentives for processing. We recommend this feature be used for credit card transactions that are authorized online to prevent fraud. Like most premiums, once it has been awarded and redeemed it can't be retrieved in the case of a cancellation.
Contact your account manager to inform them that you are going to start a Rewards program.
Q: What HTML tags are needed on the page? A: Developer documentation can be found in our online Web Developer's Guide.
Q: How do you cash-in your points? A: You will receive an Email from Netcentives directing you to a site where you complete your registration and receive instructions on how you can use your points.
Q: What happens if the subscriber cancels? A: Like other premiums, once they are awarded they can't be retrieved. However, in the case of fraud, the points can be reclaimed if they haven't been redeemed.
Q: Other than building the page, what other things should I consider? A: We suggest that you always use online credit card authorization to prevent fraud caused by duplicate credit orders. We also suggest that you make Email address a required field since Netcentives needs it to process the request. By making it a required field in ITPS, we will not accept the transaction until the subscriber provides us with an Email address.
Q: How do I contact Netcentives? A: They can be found on the web at Netcentives. Their phone number is (415) 538-1888.
The contract for this service is between the publisher and Netcentives. Kable enables the interaction because we accept the orders on behalf of the publisher, but we are not contractually involved with Netcentives. |
